Dynamic Korean Program at Georgia Tech
Welcome!
The Korean Program at Georgia Tech started in 2003 after some Korean students petitioned the School of Modern Languages to start a Korean program. However, because of lack of funding they were told that it was impossible. The students found a professor, raised around $10,000 in seed money for starting the program, and with the help of a generous grant from the Korea Foundation the Korean Program was realized.
The Korean program at Georgia Tech has grown rapidly since 2003 and now has became the only 4-year curriculum in Korean in the metro Atlanta area. The Korean program at Georgia Tech is offering 8 regular Korean courses from 1st-year level to 4th-year level. Also the Korean program at Georgia Tech is offereing 5 special courses through the Korea LBAT program which is a summer intensive study abroad program held in Seoul, Korea from 2010. Currently over 300 students from all over the world are taking Korean classes at Georgia Tech from passionate professors who take pride in their students' successes.
The Korean community in Atlanta has grown to over 83,000 people, and several major Korean companies (including Kia Motors, Doosan Infracore, SKC, & Etc) are doing business successfully in Georgia. Therefore Korean language is becoming more useful than ever. Georgia Tech is an ideal location for studying Korean language, as things learned in class can be immediately applied to interacting with a huge community of native speakers. We hope you join us in studying this great language!
